Website Refresh

This is just a short post to accompany the recent site revamp. I have used a wordpress driven blog for almost a decade, but like many folk I probably edit and update it with new info once a year! It didn't really make any sense to keep running such an overspecced system just in order to have a website available.  So over the last week I have moved most of the content over to a static site system and I'm now hosting the pages on GitHub.

I'd also like to return to producing some short tech blogs and explainers, and I found wordpress just too unwieldy for me to casually drop into and write a quick piece. I've tried medium and even tumblr, and although They both have decent interfaces and Tumblr has a really interesting community, but I'd quite like to be able to have everything in one place.. So that's the plan - I will port over some bits of orphan content that I have floating on other sites and then attempt to add to this version more frequently. More specifically I'd like to use the site to document the development of future game projects so that my short threads on tech stuff or art don't just vanish the day after I post them on bluesky.

It feels as if the golden age of social media is fading but at least I can maintain my own records here and hopefully some of the explainers and posts will be of use to others.
